30 Years EFIM at Gaswerk

The Ensemble for intuitive Music celebrated their 30th anniversary at the Gaswerk, where they last played for the iconic “party==kunstraum” event in 1998. The ensemble is dedicated to “new music” and plays beyond the “classics” of this genre their own improvisations. One of those they performed live on Friday, May 27 in Weimar, accompanied by visual improvisations by MXZEHN – 25 Masterpieces per Second. Later on, Dwig and Deer played o really nice electronic dance set befor DJane Sara finished of the dancing crowd.

German Lighting Design Award in Cologne

Cologne based lighting designers lightlife comissioned MXAV to create the MXWendler driven video show for the award ceremony of the second annual German Lighting Design Award.

MXZEHN and ROSA ROUGH rock Adesso AG

IT trust Adesso AG commissioned MXAV to create a videoshow for their annual meeting. The installation included a 7 projector panorama, scenery for a dance piece and a stomping VJ-DJ performance by MXZEHN and the lovely DJane an singer ROSA ROUGH (who truely lived up to her last name!). The panorama installation was carefully mapped to the tiles that structure the interiour of the location in Dortmund. The content included what may be the longest panorama picture in the world: A multi million pixel image that meges land- and cityscapes of Europe to an endless, looping outlook.

MXAV and CitrusBros map South America

For already 4 projects Caracas based agency CitrusBros teamed up with MXAV to create market leading videomappings for local and global brands.
MXZEHN VJ Optoyz helped the guys over at Citrus to tame their brand new MXWendler mediaserver and introduced them into the secret arts of videomapping and realtime video performance. Optoyz on the other hand made new talented friends, learned quite some dirty words in spanish and fell in love with this oil soaked tropical concrete paradise. –> The CitrusBros on VIMEO

TanzMedienAkademie 2010

Die TanzMedienAkademie – gegründet 2007 als Forum interdisziplinärer Recherche und Produktion des Kunstfestes Weimar erprobt neue Formen der künstlerischen Zusammenarbeit zwischen Tänzern und Medienkünstlern. Unter der Leitung von Stefan Kraus bot die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar im Sommersemester 2010 einen Fachkurs an, der den Studierenden die Werkzeuge der Echtzeitmedienproduktion für Bühne und Event vermittelt. Der Fachkurs gipfelte in einem 4 tägigen experiementellen Echtzeitmedienlabor im Turm des Weimarer Gaswerk im Rahmen der Summaery 2010.

Ab dem 15. August bezog die TanzMedienAkademie dann das Hauptgebäude der Bauhaus-Universität, einen wunderschönen Jugendstilbau, gezeichnet von Henry van de Velde. In diesem inspirierdenden Umfeld trafen bald die Tanzstudierenden aus Bitom (Polen) und Frankfurt ein. Zusammen mit den künstlerischen Leitern Stefan Kraus, Lutz Gregor und Dieter Heitkamp betreuten Marc Sauter, Timm Burkhardt und Björn Jung die Studierenden bei ihren Experimenten mit einem kunterbunten Haufen Medientechnik und der körperlichen Welt des Tanzes. Spontan stieß Robert Wechsler aka Palindrome dazu und Inspizientin Elske Herrmann stellte sicher, daß bei allem kreativen Chaos alles seine Ordnung hatte.

MX Media Lab at Summaery 2010-

The Bauhausmaschine was taking part in the 5 day MX Media Lab that was conducted by the participants of the workmodule “Raum in Bewegung” that was offered by Stefan Kraus in the summer semester of 2010. The class was training students for the participation in the DanceMediaAcademy, an experimental format by the Kunstfest Weimar that invites young dancers and media artists to work together. This years academy will use Henry van de Veldes famous Bauhaus building as inspiration and workshop at the same time. During the annual showcase of Bauhaus-University Weimar, the class was using the tower of Project- and Designworkshop Gaswerk as their temporary lab. Enjoying some of the hottest days of this summer students and tutors wired up laptops, videocameras, computers, synthesizers, midicontrollers and projectors to experiment with together. The Gaswerk was furthermore showing an exhibition of different alumni students of Bauhaus-University, among them the design office 45Kilo, that constructed a modular light augmented sculpture, that was animated by MXZEHN VJ 34tr for the final Party of Summaery 2010.

With the Internetoper in Bochum

With Bochum being in the very heart of Europes Cultural Capital of 2010, and the event “Extraschicht” featuring 50 locations and over 200 events all over the former industrial region, there was no lack in visitors, when Bauhausmaschine joined the team of Musiktheater im Revier, to drag the audience into an ambicious project called the Internetoper (Regie: Dirk Schattner). The performance was hosted by the Bogestra public transportation company, that asked the MIR to transform their headquarters into an experimental “operart” lab. Visitors could send text and MMS mesages to the machine, that would remix the peoples input to an endless stream of visuals, beautifully underlined by Marc Sauters soundtrack an some Puccini as well. The maschine used Murdoc Snooks type animation toolkit as well as Psychons Flash Type Plugin for MXWendler. Some of the visitors took part in the performance, and let themselves paint by the three painters, of which – pleasant surprise – two had studied at Bauhaus University…

Jack Hosé get visualized at Gaswerk

On Saturday the 29th of May the distorted animations of MXZEHN VJ optoyzMX underlined the flashy style of French-Canadian ElectroClashers Jack Hosé very well. Right after this intoxicating performance the 200 PS kollektiv kept rocking the party people of Weimar till dawn. The show was technically supported by Bauhausmaschine and part of the Gaswerks Pink Salon exhibition and closing event of the “Long Night of the Museums” event. Jack Hosé and optoyzMX announced further cooperations in the field of audiovisual extravaganza. Also in the exhibition: Going live for the first time was our intern Murdoc Snook, who earned lots of respect for his funky typo patch and the Gaswerk nerd lab congenially wired by RuinWesen and The Vidness.

MXZEHN at Backup Festival 2010

Like almost every year, the MXZEHN VJ team was invited to add some real video avantgarde to the Backup Festival in Weimar. The Backup.club is the evening entertainment format of the festival for experimental student flix, and is enjoyed by most of Weimars party people who join the festivals visitors for three crazy nights in the E-Werk. After the funky Klinke auf Chinch, and a short, sad emotronic moment with Juli Holz (for obvious reasons releasing on “Stil vor Talent”) the local wild boys of Breakaway Collective lifted the mood sky high and rocked the crowd to the break of dawn. Respect for the massive! The lovely backup.club crew made this evening a pleasure and one of our favorite nites at the Backup, so far.

The Austrian sound:frame festival has established itself as one of the leading VJ events in europe. The MXZEHN experience, was comissioned to design a dancefloor at the finissage event in the former Gerstenboden of the Ottakringer brewery in Vienna. With the Bauhausmaschines infrastructure not only six semi-transparent screens were installed – setting up the the whole floor in a playable videoarchitecture – but also lights and strobes were integrated in one whole live-video-monster-setup; ready to rock. And with audio support from Moogle, Channel-F, caTekk, Christopher Groove and Jake the Rapper, we shure did!
